Description

The Sony MDR-XD400 Stereo Headphones are a great pair of headphones that deliver high-quality sound and affordability. With 50 millimeter diameter, dome-type driver units and long-stroke diaphragms, your music will sound great. The MDR-XD400 driver units reproduce surprisingly-clear sounds at a wide frequency range (5-30,000 Hz). These substantial headphones feature neodymium magnets for greater power handling and higher frequencies. Five times more powerful than standard earphone ferrite magnets of the same size, neodymium magnets mean that the Sony MDR-XD400 Stereo Headphones maximize energy, while keeping size to a minimum. With these advanced technological features, the MDR-XD400 provides great sound without placing too much strain on your pocketbook.
With the MDR-XD400, Sony has taken special care to please both the audiophile and cinema-geek. The MDR-XD400 features a sound mode switch (music or movie) to more adequately match the sound source. With a simple flip of a switch, you can focus the headphones frequency range to make your music come to life or bring you that much closer to your favorite film star. Of course, Sony has not scrimped on comfort. The Sony MDR-XD400 Stereo Headphones feature an ear-conscious design with soft earpads for long-time listening comfort.

1) They're gigantic. The picture doesn't do it justice, they're enormous and the over the head band makes you look like an alien or something. Not for traveling whatsoever (not that they're designed for that, just pointing out that you will NEVER takes these with you somewhere).
2) The sound quality is meh. I had a different pair of sony street style headphones which I got for 30$ and they had twice as good sound quality as these. The bass is there but it's weak and won't satisfy.
3) They're really not very comfortable. The speaker parts are slanted to accommodate your ears, but they're also hard and inflexible, and if you wear them for much longer than an hour they will start to hurt and will become very uncomfortable.
4) They're not well made (or at least mine wasn't). I've only had them for a few months but some part of the internal connection from the cord to the right earpiece has come loose so now the audio flickers in and out on the right side unless I find the right position for my head and then stay exactly still, which needless to say becomes very irritating.
So overall I would say don't buy them, you're likely better of with something else for an equivalent price.
