Description

These Sony headphones are lightweight, economical, and comfortable. The MDR-A110LP stereo headphones have an adjustable, overhead headband which allow you to fit them perfectly to your head’s shape. The headphones are foldable which allow for greater transportability. The open-air design removes undesirable resonance by allowing outside air to pass through the headphones; the result is a better sounding headphone. With thirty millimeter drivers, you can expect to hear a deep bass sound. Neodymium magnets, a rare feature on such economically priced headphones, provide maximum energy with minimal size. Meanwhile, the Sony Acoustic Turbo circuit is included for high efficiency; it gets high sonic output from your portable stereo, and extends bass response. The MDR-A110LP’s oxygen-free copper (OFC) Y-style cord is double-sided and is one meter (3.3 feet) long, allowing for ample movement and separation from the sound source. The gold-plated, L-shaped stereo mini-plug fits mini-plug jacks, not the full-size stereo jacks. The headphones are a classic silver color.

The reviews and specifications for these headphones looked good, but I was disappointed with the product. If I were in the return for credit time period, I would be sending them back. They were better than the dirt-cheap headphones that came with my walkman, but the distortion happens at very moderate volume. I bought them for $18, now they are $12 which indicates they're trying to get rid of this marginal product. Don't waste your cash.
The "Sony MDR-A110A Open-Air Headphones with Neodymium Magnets" produce excellent sound quality across all ranges. Get an iPod if you really like to fuss over precise treble/bass balance etc. These headphones are lightweight (good thing), produce almost NO leaked noise outside the earpads (despite "open" design), and don't suffer sound distortion even with reggae output set to stun.
I run these off my Mac iBook with iTunes/Equalizer or DVDs while working at home or flying. The folding design works beautifully, but I'm careful to seal and carry the headphones in a zip-lock plastic bag so the delicate wires don't freak.
Only downside is the hinge positioned at the very top of the headphone headband; the headband is unpadded, and the hinge is a touch irritating IF (only if) your hair is short. Easily corrected by slightly raising the whole headband occasionally, but annoying. Apart from that, this little sleeper would have earned five stars, ESPECIALLY at the price....
What sold me on these heaphones was the bargain price, the Sony brand name, and the neodymium magnets. I was not disapointed. Sure, there are alot better looking and better sounding headphones, but for the price, these are amazing!! The bass is great, the rest is only okay. But now most people care only about base anyways so for most people, the sound will be great. I also noticed that at higher volumes, these headphones are prone to slight distortion at higher volume levels, but you shouldn't be listening to them that loud anyways. If your looking for cheap, portable headphones, look nowhere else. You can't go wrong with the Sony's at this price. P.S. The earphones actually swivel to fit your ears better.
