Sennheiser’s Set 810 listening system lets you listen to an audio or audio/video source with wireless convenience. The system consists of a TI 810 infrared FM stereo transmitter and an RI 810 infrared stereo stethoset receiver. Simply connect the TI 810 transmitter to the headphone socket of a television set or hi-fi system and you’re ready to enjoy TV sound in privacy and comfort. The Set 810 is also ideal for family members who are hearing-impaired, letting them listen to a program at a louder level than that heard by other viewers.

The stethoset receiver offers a large, easy-to-use volume control. If your TV doesn’t have an audio output jack, you can use the supplied microphone to amplify the output of the TV’s speaker. Selectable (on/off) dynamic-range compression can excellent speech intelligibility by decreasing the level of loud passages (like commercials and explosions) and boosting soft passages (like whispers) for a more even audio level.

For recharging, simply stand the receiver in the charging cradle and it automatically charges. Use the separate port to charge a spare battery (sold separately). The transmitter charging cradle charges the battery in just 3 hours.

Automatic on/off frees you from worrying about forgetting to turn it off or fumbling to turn it on. Other features include a stereo/mono selector switch, adjustable ear bows so it’s always a perfect fit, and intuitive operation with an ergonomic design.

It serves it's purpose

I will start off by saying that I bought this product for my girlfriend. On the occasions when she stays up later than me, the TV is an issue. I bought these for her, and problem solved.

Sound quality.
The sound quality is not the greatest, but good enough. If you are a sound freak, and are planning on listening to piano concerts, this might not be for you. But for watching TV, it certainly serves it's purpose, much better than the speakers on my TV. My girlfriend seems quite happy with the product, specially since we both like to watch TV at different volume levels.

Comfort.
I find the piece to be a bit tight. I don't think I could use it for ours at a time. My girlfriend on the other hand doesn't seem to mind (yes, of course her head is smaller).
The earbuds do stay in place though.

Overall I am glad I bought this product. It solved a problem and made me a happy sleeper.



Very poor quality

I bought these headphones after the Sennheiser RS 120 ones I had purchased from Amazon quit charging after less than a year. I thought by getting a more expensive pair that they would be better. Big mistake! At least the RS 120's were made of heavy, expensive-seeming materials, had good sound, and could be worn for about 1.5 hours before my ears started to hurt. The 810's are made of very cheap-appearing light plastic, the circuit board is not even covered, the ear pieces are completely nonadjustable and can only be tolerated for about ten minutes, sound is poor, transmission is terrible, and the price was ridiculous for what you get. The RS 120's were great and I became spoiled by being able to actually hear the programs, so I really hated it when they quit charging. I was not encouraged about trying to get my money back for them by the reviews on Amazon, even though I had had them for a relatively short time, so I just bit the bullet and ordered the 810's. If you notice, most of the good reviews about these headphones are written by people who purchased them for an older relative, which makes me wonder if the recipients weren't simply too polite to complain about their gift. I agree with the other one-star review: don't waste your money on these terrible headphones!

My grandmother is both nearly deaf and completely useless with technology. She is unable to use anything more complicated than a telephone or even to insert her hearing aids properly.

This headset is very simple to use. Merely put it on, occasionally adjust the volume, and then set it in its charging cradle when done.

The headset also has a "compression" mode that also makes shows very much easier for granny to understand. She even says she doesn't need the closed-captioning anymore.

So, this system has been a godsend. If you buy one, you will want an extra battery, though. Keep one battery charging while the other is in use.
Good Product if you Buy a 2nd Battery

I've bought like 8-10 different wireless headphones. This is the set I stuck with and have been using for almost 2 years. But the battery life sucks. Luckily, if you buy the 2nd battery, none of that matters. The base station allows you to charge the 2nd battery so you'll always have a fresh one.

I bought these headphones as a gift for my elderly father-in-law who resides in an assisted living facility. He is very hard of hearing and is not a fan of his hearing aids.

The Sennheiser 810 system was the perfect solution for his television viewing. The sound quality is good. The big volume knob is perfect for him. The switch that turns that turns the unit on as you spread the phones to put onto your head is ingenious! This keeps the rechargable battery useable for a much longer time. This feature is especially a plus for an older person with a memory problem who might forget to turn the unit off.

This product has absolutely changed the quality of his life. It has also brought peace to the neighbors who reside in the rooms within 50 yards of his TV speaker!!
