There are two ways to compare this to other headphones. I can personally say I think that while they don't sound as great as say the Sennheiser PMX100 Supra-Aural Mini-Neckband Stereo Headphones they do sound far better than Panasonic RP-HS52 Shockwave¨ Clip-on and Straps Design Headphones with In-line Volume Control. If the Sennheiser set came with volume control then that would be my recommendation. However, if you are looking for a headphone that stays in place when exercising (treadmill, eliptical) and with easy to adjust volume as well as decent sound (good bass), then you should consider this set.

The downside is that after one year I finally lost the other ear cushion. I tried using a replacement set from Plantronics, but those don't fit well and I suspect they will fall off too. I think I lost the first ear cushion about 2-3 months ago after quite a bit of usage.

For me volume control is critical since my mixes have songs that have volumes that tend to go all over the place. Therefore to save my ears or to hear certain songs I must adjust the volume often. Trying to reach into my pocket to figure out how my iPod is oriented so I can adjust the volume without losing my balance on a treadmill is not a good idea since I have nearly fallen a few times doing that. The lack of volume control is why I don't wear the Sennheiser set for exercising and why I use this set.

I did buy headphones to replace this (the HG52s), but the sound on the HG52s is rather crappy compared to these. Also the HG52s feel like they will fall off my ears. So for now my search for replacement ear cushions will continue for this set (HG50s). It would be nice if Amazon sold those for Panasonic headphones like they do for other brands (Plantronics, Sony, etc).

Pros: Volume control, decent sound - bass, stays on during exercise
Cons: Ear cushions will fall off after a few months usage, the Sennheisers sound quite a bit better.

Bottom Line: When I am exercising, audio quality is not as important as volume control is, so these work great for me.
The headphones that came with my Panasonic SL-SX430 CD/MP3 player just broke on me and I was looking for a inexpensive replacement. I loved the ones that came with the player (even though they were pretty standard/nothing special) so any new ones had big shoes to fill. I wanted something in the same vein as the ones that broke so I chose these. Not the same sound quality as the ones that came with the player. It definitely has a deeper, low-end bass quality but not the overall sound quality clearness, and crispness as my previous ones. They're also a bit on the small side. I guess thats to compensate for its folding design, which is quite useless. My old pair had a remote, this has a volume changer which isn't as helpful as an actual remote. BOTTOM LINE: If you need something to hold you over till you take the next step up in headphones these will do for a little while. I recommend them for a short amount of time ONLY.
